FLOOR PREPARATION

Get the base right first.

Once the old flooring is lifted, the floor underneath tells us what needs to happen next. We check its condition, levels and suitability for the new finish before planning the fitting.

Preparation may include removing residues, addressing uneven areas and applying a suitable smoothing system. The method depends on the subfloor and the flooring you choose. Any moisture concerns must be assessed before installation.

Your quotation should explain the preparation included, alongside the flooring and fitting. Ask us to look at the complete project so you know what is involved before work begins.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

What would you like to know?

Why does floor preparation matter?

A new floor needs a suitable base. Unevenness, residual adhesive and moisture can affect fitting and the finished surface. We assess the existing subfloor and explain the preparation needed for your chosen flooring.

Does every floor need a smoothing compound?

No. The work depends on the existing surface and the flooring being installed. We check the subfloor first and include the proposed preparation in your quotation.

Can you prepare a floor before fitting LVT?

Yes. Speak to DNA Flooring about preparation and installation together. We assess the existing surface and plan the work around the chosen product’s fitting requirements.

How long does floor preparation take?

Timing depends on the condition of the floor, the preparation system and its drying requirements. We explain the planned stages and allow the required time before installing the finish.
