Quick answer: Neither is automatically best. Compare the individual product’s moisture restrictions, wear suitability, preparation, maintenance and complete installation cost.
Start with the room
Consider foot traffic, moisture, cleaning and the appearance you want. Both LVT and laminate offer wood effects, but their construction and installation requirements differ.
Compare product specifications
Water resistance, wear ratings and underfloor heating compatibility vary between products. Do not assume that every product in a category has the same properties.
Look beneath the surface
Subfloor condition and the installation method affect preparation and cost. A bonded LVT product may require a particularly smooth surface; laminate may need a suitable underlay. Ask for the preparation to be included in your quote.
